VI Jr National Team Brigs home the Nevis Cup

Ending the year on a huge win, the Junior National Archery Team has brought home gold. With 4 Gold, 3 Silvers, 2 Bronze medals and the Nevis Cup 3 H. Lavity Stoutt Community college and 1 Elmore Stoutt High School Student accompanied by Instructor Winnette Lawrence, displayed their amazing talent in four different categories. These categories included distances of 18 meters, 30 meters, Federal-50 meters and a field shoot category that involved shooting at targets from varying heights while traveling through bushy areas at Mount Travers, Nevis.
This event was hosted by the Nevis Archery Association, the competition commenced on Saturday 17th December, and concluded on Sunday 18th December, 2016.
Individual awards were received by:
Adriel Singh (HLSCC) – Gold – 30 meters and 18meters, Bronze – Field Shoot
Jahmaine Liburd (HLSCC) – Silver – 30 meters, Silver – 18 meters
Teanja Donovan (HLSCC) – Bronze – 30 meters
Shania Daigneault (ESHS) – Bronze – 18 meters
Winnette Lawrence (Instructor) – Gold – 18 meters, Field Shoot, Silver – 50 meters.
BVI Archery Association President, Mr. Patrick Smith said, “the past weekend event provided a much needed opportunity to see how the team would perform under pressure now that we preparing for a rating event in Salinas Puerto Rico next year. From this regional competition, we can now see exactly where we are and what we need to work on for our next competition. Certainly, you’ll be hearing about us again as they continue to “pull ‘em back and let ‘em fly!”
The next tournament is the Juan Enrico Barrios Cup in Puerto Rico, at the end of April.
